Ensuring a sustained supply of skilled workers is of decisive importance for companies in the wood, furniture and plastics industry. For this reason the HDH makes intensive efforts to ensure continued development and modernisation of the vocational training relevant for the industry. At the centre are the trade training courses as wood mechanics - for example in furniture construction or upholsterer for the production of chairs and sofas. Together with experts from the companies and in consultation with the social partner IG Metall, the vocational training content is reviewed at regular intervals and adjusted to the needs of the companies.
To draw the attention of young people to career prospects in the German wood industry as early as possible, the HDH organises an industry-wide training campaign.
