Against the background of demographic change and increasing saturation of the sales market for wood and furniture products in Germany, the significance of international markets as important growth drivers of the German wood and furniture industry is increasing continuously. The export share of the furniture industry has more than doubled from 15 to 32 percent since the turn of the millennium. The HDH supports the export activities of the individual manufacturers by providing statistics and market analyses, establishing contacts with international chambers of trade and industry, traders, agencies, trade fair companies, media and associations as well as passing on enquiries. Preparation and annual revision of the international trade fair programme plays an important role. This enables the industry's manufacturers to participate in the subsidised joint German stands abroad. The HDH assesses new trade fair locations, prepares and provides local advice and support for selected trade fairs in the target countries.
Individual export support in Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia (competence center east)
Unlike the saturated markets within the EU, the markets in Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia offer sustained growth potential for the German wood and furniture industry. However, access market is made additionally difficult due to language barriers, differences in mentality, bureaucracy, and customs and transport costs. The "competence center east" offers German manufacturers individual, industry-specific export support tailored to the target markets, supported on a well-developed network locally and experience acquired over the years. The extensive portfolio of services includes drawing up company-specific market analyses, arranging trade representations, agencies and potential sales partners and support with certification, customs and transport issues. Other important services of the competence center east include the search for personnel at home and abroad, advice and support for trade fairs and assistance with the preparation of sales documents.
