Association of the German Parquet Industry (Verband der Deutschen Parkettindustrie - vdp)
The Association of the German Parquet Industry (Verband der Deutschen Parkettindustrie - vdp) is an organisation of 21 parquet manufacturers, who represent around 90 % of German parquet production. The association's tasks include, among other things, market monitoring, passing on market information to members, drawing up standards, PR work and maintaining contacts with institutes, universities and authorities in Germany and Europe. The association also advises its members on construction issues and informs architects and potential builders/homeowners.
The German parquet industry
In the first half of 2014, German parquet manufacturers had to absorb a sales slump of around 5.3 percent to around € 150 mln. This is due to declining production development in Germany and increasing import pressure. According to a production survey of the Association of the German Parquet Industry, the quantity of parquet produced in Germany reduced during the first half-year by 7.8 percent to around 5 mln. m². The industry employs 1,423 people in total.
