Federal Association of Wood Packagings, Pallets and Export Packaging (Bundesverband Holzpackmittel, Paletten, Exportverpackung e. V. - HPE)
The Federal Association of Wood Packagings, Pallets and Export Packaging (Bundesverband Holzpackmittel, Paletten, Exportverpackung - HPE) e.V. is a trade association with around 390 companies of the wood packaging industry throughout Germany. Its members are suppliers of pallets, packaging materials, crates and chip baskets made of wood and packing, container stowage and logistics service providers. The skilled packagers of industrial goods are teamed up in the "Packaging to HPE standard" group.
The wooden packaging industry
German industry continuously exports large quantities of high-quality goods to the whole world. The manufacturers of pallets and packaging made of wood, which develop and produce tailormade means of transport for these goods, benefit from these exports. Pallets and wood packagings ensure that the global flow of trade goods does not dry up. From fruit and vegetables to giant machines: Virtually every cargo is carried with wood packaging by truck, rail, aircraft or ship, safely and conveniently to all parts of the world. The German wood packaging industry achieves a turnover of around euro 2.3 billion, around 80 percent of this is generated by HPE's members. The wood demand of the industry is around six million cubic metres of wood per year.
